Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is "doing a really good job" and has all the tools to lead Manchester United to the Premier League title.
That is the verdict of West Ham boss David Moyes, whose side play host to Solskjaer's table-toppers on Sunday.
The Red Devils have won three and drawn one of their top-flight fixtures so far, scoring 11 goals and conceding just three.
But Solskjaer found himself in the spotlight in midweek after his side fell to their first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 at Young Boys in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, Moyes insists the Norwegian is taking Manchester United in the right direction with a squad capable of challenging for silverware.
"I think Manchester United will always have to be competitive and try to win trophies, try to win the Premier League – that’s what that club does," said Moyes, who managed the Red Devils for 10 months between 2013 and 2014.
"They’ve got a good balance of youth and experience in the squad. I think Ole’s been given a really good chance to build a squad and a team and I think he’s doing a good job.
"He’s got a team that is more than capable this year of winning the Premier League."
Moyes also harked back to his brief spell in the Old Trafford hot seat after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, admitting his win ratio of just under 53 per cent simply was not good enough.
"I see it as a huge opportunity to manage the biggest club in the world," added the Scot. "But I don’t blame anyone else other than myself. I needed to win more games.

"At the biggest club in the world you have to win the games and unfortunately I didn’t win enough.
"Ole’s doing a really good job. I think all managers at any club would ask for some time and if you get that chance it certainly helps you build your squad and get your thoughts over to your team."
Solskjaer has a win ratio of 55.77 per cent since taking over as Manchester United manager in December 2018, originally in a caretaker capacity following Jose Mourinho's sacking.
Old Trafford chiefs have heavily invested in his squad in recent seasons and they spent north of £130million in the most-recent summer transfer window.
Winger Jadon Sancho arrived from Borussia Dortmund for £73million and centre-back Raphael Varane joined from Real Madrid for £40million.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the icing on the cake, with the superstar forward returning to the Red Devils from Juventus late in the window for £20million.
