David Moyes provides West Ham injury updates on Maxwel Cornet and Jarrod Bowen after Wolves win

West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet suffered a suspected calf injury during the Hammers’ 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Ivorian winger, signed from Burnley for £17.5million in the summer, was making his full Premier League debut for the Irons but was replaced by Pablo Fornals after going down injured following a challenge from Daniel Podence.

Despite being seemingly kicked in the ankle before being injured that led to an unplanned end to his full league debut, Hammers boss David Moyes suspects it is a calf injury that Cornet has suffered.

“He felt his calf, so that was it,” said Moyes. “I’ve not had the chance to speak to the medical team yet, I’m not saying it’s a calf strain but it looks like something to do with his calf.”

Another injury concern from the game was that from winger Jarrod Bowen, who played a starring role in the win, playing a big hand in the first goal scored by Gianluca Scamacca before adding the second himself.

Footage appeared to show that Bowen had dislocated his finger, with Moyes confirming that it seems to have been a painful injury.

“He’s just told me and actually, the physio just came over and said he’s done something to his finger and said it was pretty bad,” added Moyes.

Moyes later joked, when informed his finger appeared to be appearing the wrong way, “Was it? He’s feet have been doing that a few times this season.”

That win moves the Hammers out of the relegation zone and up to 15th in the Premier League table.
