David Moyes praised for 'genius' training idea as West Ham target is compared to Lionel Messi

Here is your West Ham morning digest for Tuesday, June 2.

Clubs tipped to follow ‘clever’ Moyes move

Hammers boss David Moyes has been praised after reportedly getting his team to train at the London Stadium rather than the club’s training ground.

Following the return to training last month, Moyes has chosen not return to West Ham’s Rush Heath base, instead opting to use their home ground to get players used to the setting.

Former Coventry striker Noel Whelan says the move could give West Ham an edge over rivals in the relegation battle when the Premier League resumes.

“When you are playing on your own turf you get used to the size of the pitch and the environment,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“I would not be surprised if a few teams do that. It is a good way to get used to playing in the stadium without fans.

“They have only got a short amount of time so it is a very clever idea from Moyes to do that.

Declan Rice considered ‘low priority’ target

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is a low priority target for Manchester United according to reports.

However, despite having their sights set elsewhere, this could still be bad news for the Hammers as United’s winter acquisition Bruno Fernandes was given the same status.

Fernandes eventually moved for £47 million from Sporting after United failed to land top and high priority targets.

United are said to be pursuing the likes of Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Kalidou Koilbaly this summer, with each expected to cost upwards of £60 million.

With the changing landscape of the transfer market however, it is expected that big money deals might be off the table meaning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might switch his focus to Rice.

West Ham target compared to Messi, Hazard and Neymar

Hammers target Hirving Lozano has received high praise from former Colombia international Juan Carlos Osorio, who has likened the player’s ability to some of the best players in the game right now.

Napoli and Mexico forward Lozano has reportedly attracted the interest of West Ham who admittedly might not be able to pay the rumoured £45 million asking price.

Despite a relatively disappointing season in Naples which has seen Lozano find the target just three times in all competitions, Atletico Nacional manager Osorio is still convinced of the player’s talent.

“Now, soccer needs dribblers such as Eden Hazard, Messi, Neymar, Williams, Carlos Vela in Mexico, Hirving Lozano and there are not many in the world, there are not.” he told XEU DEPORTES.
