David Moyes pays tribute to West Ham’s joint-chairman David Gold after tragic death

West Ham United manager David Moyes has paid tribute to David Gold following his death on Wednesday morning.

Gold, who was a joint-chairman at West Ham, died on Wednesday morning at the age of 86 just hours before the Hammers’ 2-2 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Asked about Gold’s passing following the draw on Wednesday night, Moyes paid tribute to Gold, who spent 13 years as the club’s joint-chairman alongside David Sullivan.

“David Gold was incredibly supportive to me personally,” Moyes told football.london.

“Wanted me to stay after the first time and was thrilled when I came back the second time. He was a regular visitor to the training ground at Rush Green when he came in and saw us for his dinner. He was an old man, but a good man and when he talked, he was a sensible man.

“It’s a big miss for us, but obviously his family is the biggest, they’ll be really disappointed to lose him but he hasn’t been well for a little while. Everybody’s really saddened by it.”
