David Moyes offers cool response to Celtic return as he eyes next job

David Moyes appeared cool on a potential return to Celtic when quizzed what his next job may be.

The Scot has been out of work since leaving West Ham in 2018.

Moyes has been heavily linked with the Parkhead manager’s job and ranks high among the bookies’ favourties. The 56-year-old is also believed to be on the SFA shortlist to replace axed Scotland gaffer Alex McLeish.

But the former Manchester United manager hinted a return to boss in the English Premier League – the one he rates as best in the world – most appeals.

The ex-Celtic centre-back told talkSPORT: “I’ve always had itchy feet.

“I prefer the day-to-day but can I see myself being a national manager? Of course.

Moyes was also at Celtic Park to watch Celtic beat Kilmarnock (SNS Group)

“But at the moment my first choice would be to go back into club management.

“I think I’d be open to whatever’s right (England or Scotland). The best league to manage in is the English Premier League.

“I played for Celtic. But I’ve got to say, if I got a chance to go back and work in Spain again or a chance to work in Germany or Italy I would take those opportunities as well.”

Moyes has been on a tour of Scotland this month, taking in games at St Mirren, Celtic and Rangers.
