David Moyes' message for Danny Ings, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen over West Ham struggle

David Moyes says West Ham United need someone to start scoring more regularly amid their struggle for Premier League goals this season, with the Scot praising Jarrod Bowen for his performance against Aston Villa.

The Hammers have struggled to hit the back of the net in Premier League games this season, with just 24 goals in their 26 games.

Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest, Everton and Southampton have scored fewer, but only the latter sits below Moyes’ side in the table at present.

West Ham are yet to have a player hit double figures in goals this season, with Michail Antonio currently on nine in all competitions. In the Premier League, the club’s top scorers are Said Benrahma and Bowen, both with just four.

Benrahma’s penalty made sure West Ham secured a point against Villa, but the Algerian will no doubt feel he should have scored more after firing ten shots at goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.

“We really need somebody to come up with the goals regularly. [Benrahma] took a brilliant penalty kick, no doubt about that,” said Moyes post-match. “We need people, whether it be Danny [Ings] or Micky [Antonio] or Jarrod [Bowen].

"I thought Jarrod played very well, I thought he probably played as well as he has for a long time, the way he took the full-back on, got to the byline, got crosses in, cut-backs, so Jarrod gave us a chance. We need them all to try and score, we’re short of goals a wee bit.”
