David Moyes makes Michail Antonio decision following COVID enforced absence against Spurs

Michail Antonio has returned to the West Ham matchday squad following his Covid enforced absence from the team that lost 2-1 to Spurs.

The striker missed out in the Carabao Cup after testing positive for Covid after the Hammers Premier League match against Arsenal.

West Ham boss David Moyes revealed that the Jamaican international has had two doses of the Covid vaccine and therefore only had to isolate for seven days if he produced negative results on day 6 and 7.

"He [Antonio] has no symptoms and I have to say he is double vaccinated," Moyes said after the defeat to Tottenham.

With the striker's inclusion this afternoon West Ham will have added firepower to call upon as the Hammers look to end their four game run without a win.

Antonio's return to the squad is another boost for Moyes after Vladimir Coufal is once again available following a one game suspension after his red card against Arsenal.

Despite West Ham receiving confirmation from the PGMOL that the decision to send Coufal off was an incorrect one the Hammers were unable to appeal the decision as it was for two yellow card incidents rather than a straight red.

"After the game, I wasn't sure about the [red card] but we did get clarification to say it was the wrong decision from the referees and that it shouldn't have been a sending off," Moyes said.

Coufal's availability comes one game after Ben Johnson and Ryan Frederick's return from injury. Johnson played the full 90 minutes against Spurs following a hamstring injury whilst Fredericks was an unused substitute in the same fixture having recovered form his own fitness concerns.
