David Moyes makes Jarrod Bowen decision as Liverpool handed Luis Diaz transfer boost

The January transfer window is just around the corner.

In what could prove to be a pivotal period for a number of clubs in the division, business has remained quiet at Liverpool in recent years during this stage.

Jurgen Klopp's side only recruited Ibrahima Konate in the summer and are not expected to go on a spending spree next month when the window opens.

Liverpool continue to be linked with players of high quality, however, and we have rounded up the latest rumours.

What?

West Ham are reportedly ready to open new contract talks with Jarrod Bowen, in a bid to fend off growing interest from Liverpool.

The 24-year-old has proven to be a major hit with the Hammers since joining the club from Championship side Hull City back in January 2020.

His performances have resulted in other sides beginning to pay close attention, with Liverpool said to be among the teams interested in signing the English winger.

Aware of the growing interest surrounding Bowen, however, 90min.com have claimed that David Moyes' side are keen to reach an agreement with their star man in 2022 as clubs begin to circle.

What?

Liverpool may have inadvertently boosted their chances of signing Porto midfielder Luis Diaz.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been linked with a move for the Colombian star in recent weeks, after what has been an impressive start to the season for the 24-year-old.

The Reds got a closer look at Diaz during recent Champions League meetings with the Portuguese side, which resulted in routine wins both home and away.

Porto were knocked out of Europe's elite competition this week, which is set to have a ‘big impact’ on their finances. As a result of this, the club could be forced in selling one or two of their most prized assets.

Liverpool press conference

What?

Klopp has admitted he will not stand in the way of a January move for defender Nat Phillips.

The 24-year-old emerged as an unlikely hero for the Reds last season due to the club's injury crisis, but has struggled to feature this term with the likes of Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk back in action.

Newcastle and West Ham are two clubs to have been linked with a move for Phillips ahead of January, who will be eager to feature on a regular basis.

An Anfield exit seems a possibility and Klopp has made clear he would allow this to take place.

"I’m very happy that Nat is here, to be honest, but we will not block anything I think," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"It’s not the plan at all but who knows what happens until January."

Phillips suffered a fractured cheekbone in the Reds' recent win at AC Milan, though Klopp made clear that this is unlikely to affect a potential transfer.

"It’s not the luckiest moment for this but by the end of January he will be completely fine, definitely. Probably in the middle of January, I don’t know exactly," he added.
