David Moyes makes claim over Liverpool's form after Tottenham win and fires West Ham warning

David Moyes believes Liverpool never really went out of form, and knows West Ham face a difficult test on Sunday.

The Reds returned to winning ways on Thursday night with a 3-1 win away at Tottenham Hotspur, to end their run of five league games without victory.

Jurgen Klopp’s men climbed above West Ham with those three points in North London to get back into the top four, and return to the capital on Sunday to face the Hammers.

“I thought they were very good, I don't know if their form ever went away,” said Moyes about Liverpool's win over Spurs, in his pre-match press conference.

“I just think that sometimes things don't quite happen for you, but everybody is well aware of what Liverpool can do and how they can play and they certainly proved that over recent seasons.”

West Ham are in good form themselves, winning their last four league matches and six in all competitions, which has helped them climb up to the European places in the English top flight.

Moyes reckons that despite West Ham’s good form, Liverpool have shown they have more than enough quality to be able to hurt teams.

“We are really pleased with the way the players are playing and the results we have had and we want to keep that going as long as we can,” Moyes added.

“We have got an incredibly difficult challenge against Liverpool, the reigning Champions and they showed everybody they found a real bit of form so we were never in doubt of how tough the game was going to be.

“It will test us but we want to be tested by the better teams, we want to try and challenge them and this will give us a real opportunity to see what we can do.”

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-1 win for Liverpool in October, where goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, the latter from the penalty spot, secured the victory for the Reds.

Moyes believes that mistakes let his team down on that occasion, and is hopeful that his players will show a good account of themselves against the reigning champions of England.

“What I learned from that game (in October) is we gave away a very soft penalty kick, which was really debatable, but overall we competed really well,” said Moyes.

He continued: “The games we have played Liverpool we have had a good run for our money, the game at Anfield we came close, we made a couple of mistakes which cost us the game but that's what Liverpool do, they are relentless, they make chances.”
