David Moyes has already made West Ham transfer claim amid Harry Maguire loan links

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been linked with a loan move to join West Ham United this month.

The 29-year-old United club captain has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, with The Mirror reporting that the Hammers are keen on bringing him to the London Stadium in the hope of steering themselves away from the relegation zone in the second half of the season. However, football.london understands that at present, there is no interest from the Hammers in Maguire.

The news comes amid the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Hammers defender Craig Dawson, who has been the subject of a bid from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ahead of the Hammers facing Wolves on Saturday, a game which Dawson was left out for, Moyes had spoken about his intentions regarding centre-backs, should Dawson leave the club.

Dawson almost joined Wolves in the summer, but a move fell through late in the window because West Ham were unable to sign a replacement in time. They were interested in Duje Caleta-Car and Jan Bednarek, but they ended up joining Southampton and Aston Villa respectively instead.

Hammers boss David Moyes was asked ahead of the 1-0 loss at Molineux whether or not he needed a new centre-back, if Dawson goes, saying that he is happy with the four central options he currently has.

“We’ve got four other centre halves so we’re pretty well covered in that area and at the moment,” said Moyes.

“We’ve not said that we are doing anything and we’ve not said that we’re not. We’re just telling you that we’ve had an offer (for Dawson).”

Of the five recognised centre-backs at the club, including Dawson, all of them are fit and available at present.

Saturday’s meeting with Everton could see West Ham play Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd together for the first time, something Moyes has aimed to do all season but has not been able to due to injuries.
