David Moyes gives West Ham transfer update that could worry Hammers fans ahead of next season

Following the 3-1 away win at The Hawthorns on Wednesday evening West Ham are almost certainly in European competition next season.

Barring a heavy defeat to Southampton and a large Everton win at Manchester City on Sunday, the Hammers will at the very least be in the Europa Conference League.

A draw against the Saints and a spot in the Europa League group stages is West Ham's. The extra games will come at a price with the Thursday to Sunday turnaround something Moyes is wary of but pleased to take on.

"To go Thursday, Sunday for the majority of the season, so many games on a Thursday and Sunday and then travelling back from Europe, I have had it quite a lot with Everton and I know the experience," he said.

"You can see it with lots of clubs who find it quite difficult to do."

However, Moyes added that European football is a reward and praise for a fine season in a 'difficult league'.

European football will stretch West Ham's squad to the limits and depth must be added if the Hammer's wish to compete both on the continent and domestically.

After the win against West Brom, Moyes provided an update on the club's summer recruitment plans.

"If we do need a bigger squad and you do not have the money then you are going to have to find cheaper players or free transfers or find a different type," he said.

"It has never been my style to go and demand money, the club will tell me what they have got to spend and I will try and do the best I can with what I have got.

"I will try and get players in who can improve the team and if we made Europe then it might be different, but I am not there [yet].

"So maybe that question I am hopeful or would like to have to answer after the game on Sunday."
