David Moyes gives latest on West Ham’s Thilo Kehrer pursuit and makes Matheus Nunes remark

West Ham United boss David Moyes admits that progression is being made with Paris Saint-Germain over signing Thilo Kehrer, although the club are no nearer to completing the deal.

Earlier this week, the Hammers made an offer to sign German international Kehrer from Ligue 1 champions PSG, although multiple clubs including Sevilla are believed to be interested in signing the 20-time international.

Asked for an update, Moyes said that while a deal was no nearer to being struck, progression had been made, with the Hammers struggling for centre-backs in last Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City.

“If I was going to give an update, I would first of all give it to my club team, that is what I would do first of all,” said Moyes.

“We’re not any further forward with it at the moment but we are progressing.”

During his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest, Moyes also revealed that the club had tried to sign Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes in the summer transfer window, with the eight-time Portuguese international also linked with league rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.

Asked about Nunes and links to the Premier League, Moyes confirmed that while the Hammers did make a bid to sign the Brazil-born Portugal international, he opted against a move to the London Stadium

“Yes, we bid for him, but the boy chose not to come,” Moyes added.
