David Moyes explains his three transfer regrets as Man Utd boss

David Moyes has ranked Toni Kroos as his biggest transfer regret - above even Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas.

Moyes took over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and was tasked with carrying on his fellow countryman's work.

But he lasted just seven months at Old Trafford before being sacked and replaced by Louis van Gaal.

The Scot has now revealed he was desperate to sign Kroos who was at Bayern Munich but opted to join Real Madrid.

"Toni Kroos would certainly be the one," Moyes told BeINSports . "At that time we were very much after Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas.

"But I’ve got to say prior to that, at Everton, we were really close to a lot of good players. We just couldn’t quite get them over the line on several occasions."

Moyes went to manage Real Sociedad and Sunderland but lasted only a season in charge of both clubs.

He is now in his second spell at West Ham having taken over from Manuel Pellegrini last year.

And he insists he has no regrets about any part of his managerial career.

"I’ve got to say every club I’ve been at has been great - every club," Moyes added.

"Manchester United, Sunderland, have shown me different things. [I’ve] experienced different parts of it and I think that’s why now, when you get to this stage at this level, I think you’re in a better position to manage.

"I think I’ll always look back and regret leaving Everton because of the team and the players I had built at that time, but I’ll never be regretful for joining Manchester United or doing what I’ve done."
