David Moyes delivers West Ham transfer update after £20m windfall amid Eddie Nketiah links

David Moyes has delivered an update on West Ham United's transfer plans amid links to Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

The Hammers have been handed a surprise windfall following the sudden departure of Sebastien Haller. On Friday morning it was announced that Ajax had completed the signing of the centre-forward in a deal worth €22.5 million (£20.26m).

As a result, West Ham have been left rather thin on striking options and will be looking for a Haller replacement before the January transfer window closes. And many names have already been linked with a move to the London Stadium.

One of which is Ajax's teenage striker Lassina Traore, as reported by football.London on Wednesday, while Adam Hlozek of Sparta Prague has also been tipped for a transfer.

The 18-year-old international teammate of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal has started the season impressively, scoring four and assisting five goals in just six league games.

In addition, United are interested in signing Arsenal's Nketiah. That’s according to the Evening Standard, who report that Nketiah is on the Hammers wish list alongside Bournemouth striker Joshua King and Stade de Reims star Boulaye Dia.

The 21-year-old has entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and West Ham are reportedly keen to know if the Gunners would be open to a deal.

After admitting the offer for Haller was too good to turn down, Moyes commented on links to Nketiah.

"One thing you need to do as a manager, you need to make sure that you have spaces to bring people in, if you don't have spaces then all you do is gather players and it becomes more difficult," Moyes said in his pre-Stockport press conference.

"So, part of the job is to create room for it, we have now created room that we can bring players in. Are we ready for that? No, not really.

"But we will go along and we'll do what we can and we will try and bring in what we think are the right players."
