David Moyes delivers update on Frank Lampard's £80m Chelsea transfer plan

West Ham United boss David Moyes has reiterated his desire to keep Declan Rice after revealing the Hammers have not received any bids from Chelsea.

The England international is being linked with a move away from the London Stadium this summer, having enjoyed another impressive season in which he won West Ham’s player of the year award.

The Blues in particular have been heavily mooted as a possible destination, with Frank Lampard reportedly looking to utilise Rice as a centre-back as opposed to his usual defensive midfield role.

Moyes, though, insists the Hammers have not received any bids for the £80million rated 21-year-old, and he hopes to keep it that way.

“At the moment there have been no offers for Declan and we don’t want any,” Moyes told the Evening Standard.

“There's always interest but we don’t want to encourage it.”

Moyes though did offer some hope to Chelsea over a possible move for Rice by suggesting his own plans in the transfer window could rely on the Hammers offloading players this summer.

“We would like to strengthen in a lot of areas,” Moyes added.

“We’re lacking in defensive cover. We’re also looking to see who could move on, because that could change the direction we take during the transfer window.

“The owners have spent a lot of money in the last few years and I’m not sure a similar amount will be available this time.

"Whatever there is, though, we will spend it wisely.

“We’re trying to bring in a younger group but we will also need a couple of experienced players.

"Central defenders are usually better when they’re more experienced.”
