David Moyes could escape West Ham sack as Hammers try to avoid Leeds United issue

West Ham United's board are reportedly concerned at making the same mistake as Leeds United's higher-ups by sacking their manager and being unable to find a replacement quickly.

The current Hammers boss, David Moyes, is under pressure after a poor season which has seen the Irons fall into the bottom three, far from their seventh-placed finish at the end of last season.

Leeds are also in a precarious position, having sacked Jesse Marsch two weeks ago with interim boss Michael Skubala overseeing their last three games despite chairman Andrea Radrizzani telling fans it'd take just three days to find a replacement for the American. A replacement in the form of former Watford boss Javi Gracia appears to be on the way, but only after Leeds slumped into the drop zone at the weekend.

According to the Guardian, the Irons' board were close to letting Moyes go last month following their defeat to Wolves but after a 2-0 win over Everton and good results against Newcastle United and Chelsea, he'd earned himself some breathing room.

But now that pressure is back after the 2-0 loss to Tottenham saw them drop to 18th, and with a pivotal clash against Nottingham Forest on the horizon, many believe a defeat could signal the start of a new face in the London Stadium dugout.

However, with a lack of names West Ham would be able to realistically convince to take over, it's reported that the board might be unwilling to take such action so quickly.

Despite having been linked with the Leeds job, out-of-work manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly on 'standby' but the club have doubts over his ability to save their season while West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is believed to be a 'future' target.

There does remain a desire at the club to keep Moyes in place after the Scotsman guided them to back-to-back European campaigns over the last two seasons but time is running out.
