David Moyes confirms West Ham backroom staff ahead of the new Premier League season

David Moyes and West Ham returned to training on Friday, July 2, and alongside the manager was the newest member of his backroom staff Billy McKinley.

Moyes recently signed a three-year deal at West Ham and the club have now confirmed that four members of his backroom team have also agreed new long-term deals.

Current assistants Kevin Nolan, Paul Nevin, Stuart Pearce and Xavi Valero have all agreed new contracts to remain with the Hammers and are joined by former Scotland international McKinley.

It will be McKinlay's second spell as a coach at West Ham following a seven-month stint at the Hammers during Moyes' first stint in charge in 2017/18.

Former assistant Alan Irvine will take a step back from his day-to-day role at the club but will stay on as a technical advisor.

Nick Davies is also returning to the London Stadium to take up a position on the fitness and sports science team.

Moyes was thrilled with the two new appointments and is looking forward to the season ahead under his new coaching team.

"I'm delighted to welcome back both Billy and Nick. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the team, they know the football club well, and they will fit straight back in to how we work," he told the club website.

Moyes was also keen to stress his pleasure at the renewal of his current coaching team at the club.

"It was very important to me that we did this together," he said. "The progress so far at the club has been a real team effort and my staff, not just the coaches, have been a crucial part of that. We are looking to continue to build on what we have done so far and we will work to keep our levels high."

The club also confirmed that a new Head of Recruitment was close to being appointed, however, with the deal not yet done no further details have been announced.
