David Moyes breaks silence on Celtic job as West Ham boss emerges as early favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou

David Moyes says he’s happy and settled at West Ham as he blanked links to Celtic.

The 60-year-old insists he’s given no consideration to Parkhead talk as speculation swirls around current Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham have the Aussie on their managerial hitlist and Moyes has been installed as bookies’ favourite to replace him should he leave. However, while Postecoglou prepares for Saturday's Celtic Scottish Cup Final outing against Inverness Caley Thistle, the Hammers boss is getting ready to take his own club into a first major European Final in 47 years when his troops face Fiorentina in Wednesday’s Europa Conference League showpiece.

Asked about the links to his former club Celtic, Moyes said: “I’ve never even considered it. I’m West Ham manager and I’m really enjoying my period here. The club have been so good to me and we’re enjoying the journey we’re on here. I’m hopefully trying to continue growing a really good football club so I’ve not given it any consideration. Through my years, I’ve been linked with lots of jobs at different times, but I have to say I’m really happy at the moment settled where I am.”

Moyes has spent over four years with Londoners during his second spell in charge of the club and next week could provide his crowning glory. It was put to the Glaswegian that he could go out in a blaze of glory and walk away if he sinks the Italians in Prague and gets his hands on the trophy.

But Moyes said: “No. The only focus I have got at the moment is trying to play the game, win the game, perform as well as we possibly can. So I’m certainly not thinking about further ahead than that. We still have a few days until the game. So we are just preparing the players and getting things ready.”
