David Moyes says West Ham should have been awarded a penalty against Burnley given all those that were awarded in the Premier League this weekend.
Penalties were a deciding factor for top four rival Manchester United on Saturday as well as Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool as six were awarded across the top flight in one day.
Craig Dawson appealed in the first half of West Ham’s goalless draw as he was caught by Clarets winger Dwight McNeil, though referee Graham Scott waved away the shout and VAR Jonathan Moss decided not to send the official to review his decision.
“I think this weekend we’ve seen more soft penalty kicks given in the Premier League than we’ve seen all season,” said Moyes.
“If those ones were given, what I saw yesterday, I would have expected this one to be given.
“But I am an advocate of saying that it has got to be really correct and I’d be surprised if people were saying that yesterday’s penalties were stonewall penalties, I didn’t see it and I thought the game had become harder to get a penalty.
“I thought today’s was worthy of that [being awarded] if that is the level.”
