David Moyes begins revamp of West Ham scouting and transfers with key appointment to his team

David Moyes has further cemented his control at West Ham following his new three-year deal with the appointment of his son, David Moyes Jnr, to the scouting department.

Moyes Jnr has left his role as an agent with Wasserman to take up a position in the West Ham scouting and recruitment department.

The appointment is a clear indication that Moyes Snr is planning for the long term at West Ham and has been entrusted with control over the incoming transfers.

Moyes Snr was rewarded for his fine work over his first full season back at West Ham since his reappointment in December 2019 with a further three years at the club.

Moyes' new deal was agreed with the club by way of the manager's agent, brother Kenny Moyes.

The Scot took West Ham into Europe by way of a Hammers record Premier League points tally of 65 and a top-six finish, the first time West Ham have ended a campaign so high since a fifth-place finish in 1998-99 under Harry Redknapp.

Moyes is understood to feel West Ham's recruitment department is currently short of options and is looking to add a number of new appointments to the club in the coming weeks.

So far this off-season, West Ham have only added three teenagers to the U23 academy team in the form of Thierry Nevers, Pierre Ekwah Elimby and Armstrong Oko-Flex.

With the appointment of Moyes Jnr and the beginning of the scouting and recruitment department revamp, Hammers fans will be hoping to see a number of first teams players joining shortly as the club prepare for a busy 2021/22.

Currently, West Ham's squad is light in options with the likes of Jesse Lingard returning to Manchester United after his loan spell and Felipe Anderson and Winston Reid unlikely to push for a recalls to the squad following loan moves away from West Ham.

Fabien Balbuena will no longer be an option for the Hammers in defence after confirmation he is leaving the club at the end of his contract on June 30th.
