David Moyes and West Ham handed significant boost ahead of Crystal Palace clash

David Moyes has confirmed Lucas Paqueta should return to the West Ham squad for the visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

West Ham host the Eagles at the London Stadium, with the Hammers looking to continue their impressive recent form, both in the league and in Europe. David Moyes' men rounded off their Europa Conference League group stage with another victory last night (Thursday), winning 3-0 away from home against FCSB in Romania.

And now, the east London outfit have been given another boost, with attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta returning to training after missing the last four games with a shoulder injury.

Moyes confirmed he could be in contention to feature on Sunday against Palace, although it is not yet clear if he will be able to start the game.

“Lucas Paquetá has been training so he’s probably ready to be included in the squad," Moyes said. "Whether he’s ready to play we don’t know, but he should be available and we certainly think he could be involved.

“We’re starting to get some injured players back. Nayef Aguerd played his first 90 minutes last night as well, he has been out for three or four months, and we are getting closer to getting him back to full fitness now and Lucas Paqueta too, so that’s great.”

Meanwhile, Moyes is hopeful his players can continue their strong recent form, having won seven of their last ten games in all competitions, including winning their last five home games in a row in the Premier League and Europa Conference League.

And with three home games to come in the space of a week before the Premier League breaks for the World Cup, with the visit of Palace followed by a Carabao Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers and a home league game against Leicester City, Moyes is looking to finish the first half of the season strongly.

“We want to finish in a strong position. Some of our performances have merited more and we need to turn that into goals," he said. “Good performances tend to lead into good results and I’m hoping that’s the case.”
