David Moore has a chance to play for Seahawks in Week 3

The Seattle Seahawks will head into Sunday’s contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers without third year receiver David Moore, who suffered a shoulder injury late in the preseason.

Moore’s injury didn’t land him on the IR however, and coach Pete Carroll is encouraged enough by his recovery to speculate he could be back as soon as Seattle’s home matchup against the Saints in Week 3.

“David practiced really well,” Carroll commented on Friday. “Next week’s a really big week for him. He has a chance to come back to us. He won’t make it this week but, he has a chance next week to come out and play for us. He looked great; he feels really good. Like we said all along, he’s going to feel better than the tests show but, the scans that he had this week really gave us an optimistic thought that he has a chance next week.”

Moore is expected to Seattle’s No. 3 receiver this year, alongside Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Jaron Brown, Malik Turner and rookies Gary Jennings and John Ursua are in the fold as well, although the team seems unlikely to keep all seven players on the active roster.

Moore had an excellent run last season, hauling in 22 receptions for 413 yards and five touchdowns between Week 4 and Week 12.

He has a chance to do some damage again this year, particularly now that defenses are forced to pay extra attention to Lockett as well as Metcalf after his excellent NFL debut.
