David Martindale & Stephen Robinson extend deals at Livingston & St Mirren

David Martindale and Stephen Robinson have signed contract extensions at Livingston and St Mirren respectively.

The former has agreed an extension to his deal until the summer of 2027, with the option of a further year.

Meanwhile, Robinson has agreed to extend his Buddies contract until the summer of 2028.

“I knew when Calvin and the board made it known that they would like me to remain at Livingston, there was only going to be one outcome," Martindale said. “During the previous seasons it had been very hard for us all at the club and I will remain forever grateful to Dave Black, John Ward and John McIlvogue for allowing me the opportunity to try and take the club back to the Premiership.

“I did have it in my head that if we could take the club back to the Premiership, it would probably be my last season with Livingston and allow me to leave the club in the best position possible.

“But when Calvin and his team came in, it gave everyone at the club a massive lift and the more we all spoke and worked together, the more my appetite grew to be part of this – so long as they felt that they wanted me remain at Livingston.

“So when Calvin and the board got in touch and intimated that they would like me to stay at the club it was a very easy decision and a very easy process.

“I feel a genuine honour and privilege to be the manager of Livingston FC and my desire to do everything I can for this club has only got stronger as the months have passed.

“I would like to thanks the chairman and the current board for placing their trust in me and my team. I can confidently say we will do everything in our power to try and take Livingston FC to new heights.”

Robinson commented on his deal: "I’m delighted to sign the new contract.

"I’m glad the board have appreciated the hard work that Brian and I have done over the last three years with three top six finishes.

"It’s been an incredible achievement for the whole group of staff at the football club – both on and off the pitch.

"I feel like we’re right at the start of another process.

"There’s a lot of hard work to be done, but we’re all aiming to push it in the right direction. I always use the phrase ‘anything that makes the boat go forward’ and I’m surrounded by people that are doing that to the best of their ability.

"Jim Gillespie, Keith Lasley, everyone the board and every single person at the football club are striving to make it better.

"We all want to make it happen quicker, but we don’t have a never-ending amount of money, so we have to do it with hard work and diligence. Everyone is pushing the football club in the right place.

"We felt it was right to commit our future with another year to continue the project that we’re doing, aim for another top six finish and keep pushing the football club on and off the pitch."
