David Martindale fit and proper SFA hearing postponed as Livingston boss made to wait

David Martindale will have to wait to discover if he has passed the SFA ‘fit and proper person’ test.

The Livingston boss - who has guided the Lions on an incredible eight-game winning run since Gary Holt’s departure in November - has still to be given the all-clear by the game’s governing body.

Martindale, who was sent to prison for six-and-a-half years in 2006 for drug offences, was due to be the subject of an SFA hearing on Monday morning to decide whether he met the criteria to assume the top role at Livi.

But the meeting was postponed and a new date has yet to be set. Record Sport understands the weight of business surrounding the fall out from Celtic's Dubai trip and this morning's announcement of a three-week suspension of all football below the Championship was the reason for the hearing being put back.

Under SFA rules the board must be satisfied that any manager is fit and proper to hold such a position.

The same rules state that a club has up to 10 days to notify the SFA of any managerial appointment and the association then require to consider whether they are fit and proper having due consideration of the facts.

Martindale said after Sunday’s win over Ross County that he was relaxed about the situation.

He said: "What will be, will be. Hopefully they make the right decision but whatever it is, I'll just take it on the chin.”

Livi face Aberdeen at Almondvale on Wednesday evening.
