Twin Peaks creator David Lynch has revealed that he thinks Donald Trump "could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history."
In an interview withThe Guardian, Lynch said that he could become significant for successfully disrupting the political system.
"He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much," says Lynch. "No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way."
However he didn't seem entirely sold on Trump as a leader.
The 72-year-old filmmaker proceeded to criticise the most powerful individuals in the US government saying: "Our so-called leaders can’t take the country forward, can’t get anything done. Like children, they are. Trump has shown all this."
Lynch also explained that he was a Bernie Sanders supporter in 2016, but shifted course to back to the Libertarian candidate (Gary Johnson) during the presidential election.
Still, Lynch maintains he is all over the place with his beliefs.
"I am not really a political person, but I really like the freedom to do what you want to do," he explains.
The interview also focused heavily on his new memoir Room To Dream, co-written by author Kristine McKenna.
In it, Lynch chronicles his upbringing, career trajectory, personal relationships and family life.
