David Luiz sends message to Arsenal supporters ahead of north London derby vs Tottenham

David Luiz was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Arsenal defender was at fault for both of Mohamed Salah's second half goals at Anfield as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners to maintain their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season.

Firstly the £8m summer arrival from Chelsea conceded a penalty after pulling back his ex-teammate in the area.

Then with the Gunners chasing a goal, Luiz got turned far too easily by Salah who went on to score his second of the evening with a wonderful solo effort.

Much of the post match analysis has centred around the central defender, with him coming in for a lot of criticism.

Taking to social media after the game, Luiz owned up to his mistake and insisted he will never hide.

"Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes !!!," he posted on Instagram. "But I know one thing , I will never give up!!

"Was always like that my life ... I came here with a goal , and I will fight until the end for that!!!

"Thank u for the fans , for all the support !!! I will never hide , wining or losing !!!"

Luiz also issued a rallying cry ahead of next weekend's north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

"But like I said, the team fought until the end and the team created a lot of chances to score here today," he added. "It could be a different game but now we are still with the six points, in three games, we're going to play a tough game against Tottenham.

"I think you have to look forward and try to win."

Luiz did admit he would have brought Salah down in the build up to the goal which made it 3-0.

But he didn't want to risk a second yellow card.

"After that [penalty] he gave me a yellow so for the third goal I could not make a foul to put my team in trouble with ten men," he told reporters.

"So I think the condition affected my game after that but like I said, the team fought until the end."
