David Luiz reveals details of video call with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and the advice he gave

David Luiz has opened up on a conversation he held with Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, amid the lockdown rules enforced across the country.

The Arsenal squad continue to train from home as they await an update on when the Premier League season can resume.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all football has been suspended indefinitely with no confirmation of how the current campaign can be completed.

But Luiz revealed that he has been in contact with the Gunners boss ahead of a possible resumption, and offered an insight into the tactical work which happens behind the scenes.

Which country's clubs have most Champions League goals?

The former Chelsea defender explained how Arteta spoke to him for over an hour on a recent video call, and offered him some advice.

“We have homework, like schools and universities! I was with Arteta two days ago on a video call of an hour and a half doing game analysis, training analysis, of our season," Luiz told ESPN Brasil.

"'Speak of this game without seeing the game, David'. And then we watch and see that we think we had a good game, but we couldn't get out. Or we think it's bad, but in this part it was good.

"This exchange is very positive and will help us a lot in the future."

Luiz joined Arsenal from Chelsea last summer and initially struggled under former boss Unai Emery.

But the arrival of Arteta has seen the experienced Brazilian recapture the form which has seen him win every major honour at club level.

And Luiz has praised the impact that Arteta has made since he was appointed at the Emirates.

"The thing that impressed me the most was that the day he arrived, he brought the whole club together, not just the players," he added.

"And I would like the club to walk together, with the same ideas, the same purpose, the same oxygen. Let everyone understand why we were there, who we were representing and the way we were supposed to do it.

"Since that first meeting, I saw, breathed and said: now I understand why I am here. Since then, I have been enchanted by the form and conduct he had.”
