David Luiz responds to latest Arsenal defeat amid pressure on Unai Emery

David Luiz has urged his Arsenal teammates to keep "calm" after their defeat to Sheffield United amid pressure on Unai Emery.

The Gunners suffered their second loss of the season at Bramall Lane on Monday night before needing a late Nicolas Pepe double to save three points against Vitoria in the Europa League.

Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League but they sit 10 points behind leaders Liverpool and performances have been disappointing - with the constant distraction of Mesut Ozil's snubs causing friction with fans.

But centre back Luiz has insisted Gunners' supporters to stick with their side after being put to the sword by the Blades.

Arsenal move on to a Premier League fixture with Crystal Palace on Sunday and the Brazil international said.

“We have to be honest about what went wrong, but we also have to be calm,” the 32-year-old told Sky Sports.

“It's only our second defeat this season. We are doing many things well. We have to keep believing in our philosophy, we have to keep believing in our team, which is the best way for us to improve.

“Football is about the end, not the beginning, so let's see how we finish at the end of the season in May.

“We have to win, we always have to win,” he added. “If you want to achieve big goals, you have to think about winning, winning, winning. It'll be tough against Crystal Palace but we want the three points.

“I want to win titles with Arsenal, that's why I'm here.”

Arsenal are well-placed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in three years.

But Harry Redknapp reckons the Gunners will not be in the top three of the Premier League.

"It looks like Liverpool and Man City are different class, then you have got Tottenham ," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"Then you have got Arsenal. I don’t know where they are going at the moment. For me, they are nowhere near capable of finishing in the top three, unless the others all fall over.

"And Man United, that’s a big rebuilding job for Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) – so I think Tottenham will finish third this season."
