David Luiz responds to criticism as Arsenal fan sends message to Stan Kroenke

Here is your Arsenal digest for Sunday, July 19.

Luiz responds to criticism

David Luiz insists he has worked hard to win back Arsenal fans following an incredible display against Manchester City in the FA Cup.

The Brazilian centre-back was part of a dominant defensive performance in the Gunners' 2-0 win, coming just a month and a day since his disastrous display against the same opponents in the Premier League restart.

He says football is about surviving and striving to improve.

"I think it's part of football," Luiz told BT Sport.

"I understood football is about survive. Every day you're gonna defend your team and people support other teams.

"It's about trying to survive. It's what I did, I worked hard every day after my mistakes, I took the blame, I was humble enough to accept that and work more for the team."

One fan used that aspect to send a message to the board, urging them to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.

The Gunners are no longer the soft touch that willingly roll over after making mistakes.

Instead, they stand up for each other and refuse to accept defeat.
