David Luiz has thrown a curve-ball Chelsea’s way ahead of transfer deadline day after not training with the first team today.
football.london understands that Arsenal are interested in the Brazilian to bolster their centre-back position after the exit of Laurent Koscielny.
Reports emerged from France on Wednesday afternoon that Luiz had gone on strike and refused to train with Chelsea, however football.london also believes this to be inaccurate.
However, Luiz did not train with the first team and is believed to be keen for a move to Arsenal and it could be that a deal comes off tomorrow for the Brazilian.
The Blues have four main defenders to choose from this season, with Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma fighting for a place in the side.
Luiz signed a new two-year deal with the Blues in May, breaking Chelsea’s rule over their over-30 policy.
However, Luiz could now move on if Arsenal make him a target on transfer deadline day and if Lampard is willing to let him go.
The Gunners have been targeting Dayot Upamecano and Daniele Rugani, however they are believed to be struggling to make those moves happen.
