David Luiz, Granit Xhaka - Arsenal team news and injury updates ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Wednesday when they make the short trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

The Gunners head into their final two games likely playing for position with Tottenham now four points ahead in the final European spot with only six points still up for grabs.

And even if Spurs do slip up twice, West Ham are also on the same total with Everton also waiting to pounce, three points behind the Hammers.

Arsenal's first season without European football for 25 years now looks certain, but Mikel Arteta's men will want to go out with a range against the Eagles and Brighton.

Ahead of the first of those game, we have rounded up the injury latest.

David Luiz

We still don't know whether we have seen the last of Luiz in an Arsenal shirt with the Brazilian set to leave at the end of his contract this summer.

With fans now allowed back inside stadiums, Gunners fans would like the chance to bid farewell to the veteran, but he is yet to return following surgery and a hamstring injury, and there is a chance he won't make it back in time.

Arteta said two weeks ago: “We don’t know. He felt something in his hamstring, so it’s not good news.

“He’s put such a shift to be back for the team for the last few weeks after the knee surgery and it’s a real shame."

Since then, there has been some positive news with Arteta saying Luiz has made 'very good progress' and there is hope he could return for at least one of the last two games, even if it does not involve a start.

Granit Xhaka

Xhaka has been sidelined since pulling up with a groin injury in the build-up to the second leg with Villarreal in the Europa League final.

The club's last update said Xhaka "will continue to be assessed and rehabilitate the injury with the medical team over the next few days."

That keeps things pretty unclear, and that's about the best there is to offer on Xhaka until Arteta provides a fresh update.

It appears as though the midfielder could be in doubt for the final two games, when Arsenal may be foolish to risk him given how little there is to play for.
