David Long, two other Rams rookies change jersey numbers

With the Rams’ 53-man roster set, a whole bunch of jersey numbers that weren’t previously available have now opened up. Many rookies who come into the NFL are forced to choose numbers they don’t particularly like, and then later change numbers when final cuts are made.

Nick Scott switched from No. 46 to 33, which is a far better number for a safety. Rookies David Long Jr., Troy Reeder and Dakota Allen followed Scott’s lead and also switched their numbers.

According to the Rams’ official roster, Long switched from No. 41 to 25, while Reeder went from No. 95 to 51. Kevin Peterson previously wore No. 25 this offseason, and Dakota Allen wore No. 51 in camp and the preseason.

With Reeder taking No. 51, Allen has switched to 47 as a member of the practice squad. Dont’e Deayon, who’s also on the practice squad, switched from No. 27 (worn by Darrell Henderson) to No. 38, which Steven Parker wore before being cut.

Coleman Shelton, who was signed this week, took No. 65, which John Sullivan wore last season.
