David Letterman made Lewis Hamilton scream while driving on a race track

David Letterman knows his way around a race track. The former Late Night talk show host is a huge racing fan, and his oldest Indianapolis 500 memory goes back to 1955 when he’d listen to the race on the radio with his family, which lived just miles away from the iconic Brickyard.

He’s also a co-owner of the IndyCar Series team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, whose drivers, Takuma Sato and Takuma Sato, finished third and 27th in Sunday’s 103rd Indy 500.

But Letterman still managed to freak out five-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton while behind the wheel.

Hamilton — who won Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix — is one of the guests in the upcoming season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman on Netflix. So naturally, they took a test drive. Letterman started behind the wheel of a station wagon and his driving actually made the F1 great scream.

“I’m alive! Thank you, Jesus!” Hamilton shouted when they finally got out of the car.

And then the reigning F1 world champion took control for a wild ride that Letterman clearly absolutely loved.

Hamilton’s episode on Letterman’s Netflix show is one of five that will be available on Friday, May 31.
