DAVID KLEMMER: 'We're under pressure but it's far from over'

No-one is denying we are under immense pressure at the moment.

What also can't be denied is we have put ourselves in this position because of some very poor performances both individually and as a team. As players, it's totally on us.

The average fan out there would have no real understanding of the amount of work that goes in behind the scenes from our coaching staff, our support staff and anyone else closely involved in our organisation during the build up to games.

To see how much we let those people down as much as anyone else by the way we played against the Wests Tigers in Brisbane brings it all home.

David Klemmer

We've seen that up close and personal over the past week because we have been in each other's pockets in camp in Brisbane, on the Sunshine Coast and now in Townsville.

We are all going through tough times but what gives me hope about coming out the other side is we know what we are capable of. We know we can perform at a high level.

We know we can aim up and go toe-to-toe with the heavyweights because we have done it in the past. That can be the frustrating thing. Knowing we have it in us but through a lack of confidence and second guessing and dropping our bundle as soon as something goes wrong, not being able to consistently find it.

It happened against the Tigers. We spoke all week in the lead-up about how they are a confidence team so we needed to start strong, get them on the back foot and keep the foot on their throat. Do that and we'll win.

But within fives minutes, we'd leaked an 80 metre try from a simple off-load and missed tackle which gave them a huge boost and for us, it was like 'here we go again' and the wheels fell off.

Now we find ourselves in Townsville up against an equally desperate Cowboys side who showed against the Sydney Roosters how much of a threat they can be.

They've got a really big kicking game with Jake Clifford, they roll forward really well with the likes of Jason Taumololo and Jordan McLean and they have attacking threats in Reece Robson, Scott Drinkwater and Valentine Holmes.

Robson is a really good young player who we've had a good look at this week. He's dangerous. He's sharp out of dummy half and there is some deception there as well so if they get on a roll, he's going to be hard to handle and the same goes for Drinkwater, Clifford and Holmes.

We've again been searching for answers this week but being in each others' company in a different environment has been good for everyone.

I don't know what the other boys are thinking but I think it has been a real positive and I've got a good feeling it will come through in our performance tonight.
