David Johnson already has experience running out of shotgun

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to run their offense mostly out of a shotgun formation. New coach Kliff Kingsbury believes there is no reason not to. That means the running game for the Cardinals will look different.

However, it won’t be new for running back David Johnson.

“I actually love that,” he told reporters when he met with the media after the start of the team’s offseason program. “I did that in college. That’s all we did in college was the gun, read-option type thing. I think it really opens up more space for me and makes me be able to read the defense a little more.”

In general, the offense will be new for the team. However, running the ball out of the shotgun will not be a big adjustment for Johnson.

“I’ve been doing it five years in college, so I got used to it. ”
