David James makes miraculous transformation on Strictly Come Dancing

After three weeks of low scores and landing in two consecutive dance-offs David James appears to have found his dancing shoes on Strictly.

The former Bristol City and England goalkeeper amazed the judges - and the audience - with his Quickstep after consistently achieving low scores since the competition started.

But this week the goalie, once nicknamed Calamity James, managed to score 28, his highest score so far, including an eight from Bruno Tonioli.

All the judges agreed he had made a transformation since last week when he faced elimination along with Anneka Rice on Sunday's show.

Bruno Tonioli said: "Have you changed your diet? Have you been taking your vitamins?"

He was awarded a six from Craig Revel Horwood, sevens from both Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas and an eight from Bruno.

David James has been confirmed as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing 2019 (BBC)

Shirley Ballas said: "It's miraculous the change from week one."

Just two weeks ago the 49-year-old received a 10 for his Paso Doble, the second-lowest score in the show's history.

But David is not safe yet. He must still secure the public vote to stay clear of the dreaded dance-off.

The results show will air on Sunday night, on BBCOne.
