Liberal Member for Vasse Libby Mettam has confirmed she will not be seeking leadership of the WA Liberal Party.

Ms Mettam and David Honey, the Member for Cottesloe, are the only two Liberals to have won their seats in WA's Lower House.

Ms Mettam, who is currently the party's acting leader, said Mr Honey had the support required to become leader.

"I have given it some thought," she said.

"David Honey has the overwhelming support of the parliamentary Liberal Party.

"David is a metropolitan member, he also has some experience with the Liberal Party organisation which will stand him in good stead as we work with the National Party to call this government to account when they do things wrong."

Take a look back at the historic 2021 WA election campaign.

Ms Mettam said she was focused on the task ahead, and this meant "working better as a team".

"There are quite obviously some challenges that the Liberal Party has experienced over the last four years," she said.

"I feel very positive about what we can do to better place ourselves when it comes to the 2025 election."

David Honey won Cottesloe in a by-election in 2018, triggered by the resignation of former premier Colin Barnett.(

While counting is continuing in Churchlands, ABC election analyst Antony Green last week called the seat for Labor's Christine Tonkin.

The seat was previously held by Liberal Sean L'Estrange with a margin of 11.7 per cent and had never been held by Labor.

The Liberal Party's parliamentary wing will meet on Tuesday.
