David Healy in transfer vow after signing young striker

David Healy has vowed to "work hard" during the transfer window to help Linfield "achieve our goals" this season.

Despite entering 2022 at the top of the Irish Premiership table the Blues boss is under pressure to deliver some new faces in January.

The champions have lost teenage defender Trai Hume who joined Sunderland in a four-and-a-half-year deal on Tuesday.

They have already lost strikers Matthew Green and Billy Chadwick, leaving Healy with one recognised striker in Christy Manzinga.

Linfield have been linked with a potential move for Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty who is a free agent after leaving Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta.

One signing to have already arrived is young striker Ethan Devine who has joined from Championship side Knockbreda.

Healy confirmed the arrival on the club's website, and said it was the start of a rigorous January transfer window drive to bolster numbers at Windsor.

Healy said: “I’m delighted to be able to advise our supporters that 20-year-old forward, Ethan Devine has signed for the club from Knockbreda.

"He’s a player we’ve watched over a significant period and who we feel will fit in well with our structure. He’s eager to learn and I’m looking forward to working with him on the training pitch over the coming months.

"He was keen to join us and he’s a young player with time on his side and who we feel will have a promising future, if he continues to work hard at his game.

"He’s a welcome addition to the squad and will certainly increase the competition levels within the squad, ahead of a challenging series of fixtures ahead over the coming months.

"Ethan will be available to play some part of tonight’s Linfield Swifts' game against Dungannon reserves at New Midgley Park."

Healy added on the Linfield website : "The transfer window has just opened and we will be continuing to work hard over the coming days and weeks, to bring in further players to strengthen the squad, to help us achieve our goals for the end of the season.”
