David Haye's Who Wants to be a Millionaire champagne flute response leaves viewers in stitches

David Haye became one of the latest celebrities to take to the hot seat in Sunday night's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - but the boxer soon ran into trouble.

The 39-year-old wasn't even on four figure questions when he started to struggle, as host Jeremy Clarkson asked: "Which of these words is also the name of a glass used to drink champagne?”

For the £500 question, David was given the options of guitar, bassoon, cello and flute - but decided to use his first lifeline and ask the audience.

As you'd expect, an overwhelming majority of the crowd voted for flute, and fans online couldn't help but have a laugh at the boxer's expense.

One Twitter user wrote: "[sic] Is this for real ?! like r u actually ok mate??"

Another added: "David Haye you can not be serious ."

A third added: “@mrdavidhaye needing to use a life on Who wants to be a millionaire on the £500 question. Definitely took too many knocks to the head this one."

Others questioned Clarkson's lack of of criticism when it came to Haye, with one writing: "Anyone else notice that Clarkson didn't take the miickey out of David Haye for being thick like he does with regular contestants."

Gavin and Stacey actress and co-writer Ruth Jones was also on the celebrity special.

The Nessa actor not only won £16,000 for her chosen charity, but also took the opportunity to ask Clarkson how he would feel about a female James Bond, to which he responded: "It’s the same as I think about four men hosting Loose Women. You’re just shilly-shallying around."

Viewers also fell in love with Johnny Vegas, who also struggled on one of the earlier questions, after he chose a quiz master from The Chase as his phone a friend.
