David Hasselhoff to join cast of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 the Musical in the West End

David Hasselhoff is the latest star to join 9 to 5 the Musical in the West End.

He joins a cast including Chelsea Halfpenny, Natalie McQueen and Caroline Sheen as co-workers Judy, Doralee and Violet, who are pushed to the edge by their sexist boss Franklin Hart Jnr – to be played by Hasselhoff – and devise a plan to kidnap him.

The former Baywatch actor has previously appeared on the London stage as Billy Flynn in Chicago at the Adelphi. He will take up the role of Franklin in December, taking over from Brian Conley.

He said: “I went to see the show back in June and I thought it was ‘Hofftastic’. That’s when I knew I wanted to be part of it. Franklin Hart Jnr. is going to be a fun part for me to play and I’m looking forward to being back on stage in the UK.”

Based on the 1980s film, the musical was first performed on Broadway in 2009, with a book by the film’s screenwriter Patricia Resnick. With original songs by Dolly Parton, including iconic title tune 9 to 5, the score has won Grammy and Tony awards.

Hasselhoff will appear in 9 to 5 the musical from December 2-February 8 2020.
