David Harbour’s NoHo Loft Is Full of One-of-a-Kind Treasures – But His Ingenious Bedroom Cabinet Is a Design Masterpiece You Have to See to Believe

David Harbour attends the 'Downtown Owl' Tribeca Festival Premiere After Party hosted by Casamigos at The Chelsea Hotel on June 08, 2023 in New York City.

When I first laid eyes on David Harbour's Noho loft, I was struck by its laid-back coolness. From the striking artwork to its many luscious plants, it's a refreshingly relaxed space that pays homage to its creative owner.

In fact, every room is filled with one-of-a-kind treasures, but one piece located in David's bedroom stood out loud and proud – the ingenious storage unit. Designed by skilled craftsman Stephen Fanuka, the cabinet is unique in both its midcentury shape and contemporary construction.

I'm now convinced that every bedroom needs one piece of standout furniture to create presence and drama. David's cabinet is undoubtedly masterful in its composition; it's a clever design choice that frames the room and entices you to take a closer look.

David's midcentury modern meets Japandi loft is one-of-a-kind. From its industrial architecture to its playful pieces, it's a lesson in fusing personality with design. While many of David's pieces are bespoke (from retailers like Chairish), it's more than possible to recreate a relaxed, contemporary vibe in your own space with these picks.

A design that exceeds bedroom furniture trends, David's bespoke cabinet is an undeniable presence in his bedroom. It frames the space, providing contrast through texture and shape. Not only this, it's a handy storage vessel that hides clothes and miscellaneous items away.

Interior designer Michelle Accetta explains, 'The storage unit works well for a couple of reasons. First, it has dimensional balance; the center cabinets are deeper than the sides, which creates layered depth and visual interest. In addition, there is a nice mix of open shelving and closed cabinetry. The entire piece is monotone in color, while the woven doors add warmth with the addition of texture. The metal accents as drawer pulls are subtle while also making a statement on the diagonal legs and shelf bracing.'

Interior designer Alice Molloy agrees that it's the balance of style and function that makes David's cabinet so impressive. 'One of the many reasons David's piece works so well in his NYC bedroom is that it's the perfect balance between aesthetic and function. Set on a clean, crisp backdrop of white wall, it stands alone and acts as an art piece, so to speak. The vintage look of the wardrobe piece alone is beautiful, but paired with the drawer on either side, it comes into its own, standing out from the crowd.'

David's storage unit is a showstopper. Its intricate composition and angular shape give the bedroom real presence and drama. It's also the perfect contrast; it's an entirely different style from the bohemian decor in the bedroom. Most importantly, it proves that style and function are an unbeatable combination that's worth perfecting.
