David Harbour has opened up about “slip-ups” and “mistakes” amidst the media firestorm engulfing his highly publicised split from British popstar Lily Allen, and reports that fellow Stranger Things co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, accused him of harassment.
Ahead of Stranger Things‘ big finale, Harbour sat down with Esquire, reflecting on the Netflix juggernaut of a show and what’s next.
Within the interview, where he touched on his love for New York and his role as Marvel’s Red Guardian, the 50-year-old admitted that he made some mistakes in the past when he was asked if he would change anything about the last half-century of his life.

“I would change either everything or nothing. You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that,” Harbour told the publication.
“It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing, you kind of have to change it all.”
Harbour went on to say that as an artist, these experiences are “about incorporating your life into something that you can give to other people so that they can have a cathartic response to their lives”.
“If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer? If I were to change anything, I’d change everything, and just make my life happy and silly and like, whatever, and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would suck,” he added.

While the actor didn’t give much insight into his personal life, he did reveal that he plans to chase “balance in storytelling” in the next 50 years.
“The next 50 years will be full of more stories that are complex and rich and make you feel all the feelings and lift you up and make you wait rapidly for the next episode,” He dished.
“That’s really going to be the focus for me. Then of course there’s personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that.”
Harbour mammoth reflection comes at the height of the drama surrounding his personal life. You see, in late October, Harbour’s ex-wife Lily Allen officially made her return to music with West End Girl, which heavily detailed the demise of their relationship.
While the Stranger Things actor hasn’t addressed the contents of Allen’s album publicly, a woman who claimed to be Harbour’s mistress — in which Allen names her as Madeline in two West End Girl tracks — came forward.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Natalie Tippett, who previously worked with Harbour on We Have A Ghost, said, “Of course I’ve heard the song”.

“But I have a family and things to protect. I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and I understand this is going on,” Tippet said, adding, “I just don’t feel comfortable talking about it at the moment”.
Alongside his martial dramas, multiple outlets recently reported that Stranger Things co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, filed a complaint against Harbour before production for the fith and final season began.
At the time of writing, neither Brown, Harbour, nor Netflix have addressed the reports surrounding the alleged complaint.
