David Griffin to be on Friday’s episode of ‘The Jump’ to ‘set record straight’

August NBA storylines are off to a roaring start and they’re getting even better. LeBron James and his camp’s reported ‘shock’ at comments about him that surfaced from Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin regarding his desire to win and a ‘miserable’ working environment.

And that shock, both publicly and privately, has inspired Griffin to clarify his comments that appeared in Sports Illustrated on Thursday. ESPN’s Jorge Sedano, who is filling in for Rachel Nichols on The Jump, announced on Friday morning that Griffin would join ESPN’s daily NBA show to ‘set the record straight’ on his comments.

Although Carmelo Anthony’s appearance on first take with Stephen A. Smith generated a lot of interest this morning, Griffin’s comments and how he puts them into context or walks them back will be very interesting to watch.

Griffin’s comments were surprising in large part not because of their contents, but because Griffin had previously cast himself as an ally of LeBron and to an extent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports after leaving the Cavaliers in 2017. While we await his appearance on The Jump, it appears as though Griffin wants to maintain that same cordial professional relationship.
