David Gray will lead Hibs for Premier Sports Cup final against Celtic at Hampden

Hibs have confirmed that David Gray will take charge for Sunday's Premier Sports Cup final.

The Hibees take on Celtic at the national stadium for the first available trophy of the season.

And after taking over from Jack Ross on an interim basis, Gray will lead his team out at the same ground where he demented his legendary status with the winner in the 2016 Scottish Cup final.

However, it's likely to be his last in charge with Shaun Maloney expected to be appointed as the Easter Road club's new boss.

The former Celtic star is the number one choice and his appointment could be confirmed before the end of the week.

However, he won't be in the dugout at Hampden.

Former Hibs captain Gary Caldwell has been lined up to come in as Maloney's number two, having also played with the Malaysian-born Scotland international at Celtic and Wigan Athletic.

Gray has already overseen a Premiership draw with St Mirren at the weekend before last night's 1§-0 home win over Dundee, courtesy of Paul McMullen's spectacular headed own goal.

The ex-skipper will continue to take the team this week, along with Eddie May and Craig Samson, before picking his cup final team.
