Former Newcastle United winger David Ginola says the Magpies are going nowhere under Mike Ashley.
It has been another turbulent summer at Newcastle, with a proposed takeover falling through.
The Magpies have signed five players for a total of around £35m, but three of these were free transfers as Ashley's record of tight pursestrings continued.
Ginola says he is not surprised that Ashley is looking at selling the club but is not convinced that the controversial owner will sell to the buyer that has the club's best interests in heart and instead someone who will give him the most money.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ginola said any prospective new owner needs to inject some stability into the Magpies.
"Football has been a business for a while now," he said.
"A massive business for many reasons and many people these days.
"It's relevant to say that Mike Ashley's trying to find the best deal around.
"For Newcastle United, the benefit for the club? I don't see any.
"It depends on who will step over and bring a new stability to the club.
"That's, for me, very important as Newcastle, for 20 years, have done nothing at all.
"Rather than just swapping managers and people inside the club with no results and no stability, no future.
"Now, Newcastle need a future. They need a club who look promising for the players, the manager and everything."
