David Gest funeral: Stars attend service for late producer and entertainer

Stars of the entertainment world turned out to pay their final respects to David Gest, who was laid to rest this afternoon at a ceremony in north London.

Gest died at The Four Seasons Hotel in London aged 62.

The entertainer and producer grew up with Michael Jackson and had a number of high-profile friends, some of whom were at the service at Golders Green Crematorium.

Before the service former soap star and friend Dean Gaffney said: “David will be sorely missed, there will be a good turn out for him today.”

The Four Seasons Hotel also sent flowers with a card reading: “From your friends at the Four Seasons Hotel at Canary Wharf. You will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.”

The service concluded with "I'll Be There" by Michael Jackson. His ashes are expected to be scattered in York, where he had been planning to settle.
