A helpline set up by Kent Police for distraught relatives who suspect double murderer David Fuller violated the bodies of loved ones after their death has already received 403 calls, it was revealed on Monday.

Electrician David Fuller, 67, carried out sex attacks on at least 100 corpses of women and girls at hospital morgues.

Detectives say they may never know the true scale of his depravity at the now closed Kent and Sussex Hospital and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

But the force’s contact centre has been inundated with calls from family members since Friday when just 80 had called.

Last week Fuller pleaded guilty to murdering Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, in two separate attacks in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in 1987.

Maidstone Crown Court heard he had sexually assaulted the two women after killing them.

Ahead of his trial, Fuller pleaded guilty to 51 other offences, including 44 charges relating to 78 victims in mortuaries.

Several MPs and a women’s charity have called for a public inquiry into how Fuller got away with his crimes.

Kent Police said: “As of this morning, the contact centre had received around 403 calls from members of the public.

“Specialist family liaison officers have already contacted the families of all identified victims and are supporting them.”

Fuller filmed himself carrying out the attacks with police uncovering images of sexual abuse at his Sussex home.

A date for Fuller’s sentencing has not yet been set. The helpline is on 0800 051 5270.
