David de Gea sends message after beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to Manchester United award

David de Gea has thanked Manchester United supporters for their continued backing after he was named the club's player of the month for November.

The Spaniard has been called into action on a number of occasions already this season and is one of the players who has oddly thrived given the poor start to the campaign.

De Gea's form saw him beat off competition from fellow nominees Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to land the trophy, the first time he has won it since February 2018.

The experienced shot-stopper celebrated his victory with a rare clean sheet against Crystal Palace over the weekend and now he has expressed his delight at winning the award.

"I’m here just to help the team," he told official club media. "I try to make saves in the important moments. This is why I’m here, to help the team. At the moment, I’m doing well and helping the team. This is my job.

"To be honest, I’ve been feeling very good since the beginning of the season; very confident and very strong in mind. So, yeah, I’m really happy with the award, of course.

"Thanks to the fans. Of course, it’s been a difficult few weeks in the club but the last results have been great for us. So let’s keep pushing and keep trying our best."
