David de Gea's stance on Man Utd future amid Juventus transfer interest

David de Gea's Manchester United future is still unclear amid suggestions that Juventus are preparing to make the goalkeeper their latest big-name free transfer addition in 2020.

The Spanish international has been holding out on a new deal at Manchester United , with his current contract due to expire next summer.

Attempts to get De Gea - who has captained United on occasion this season - to sign a new deal have so far come to nothing, with the stopper believed to be uncertain about the club's future under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as well as reluctant to spend any more time outside of the Champions League.

On Monday, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo - cited here by Sport Witness - claim that the impasse in negotiations has "hardly moved in months" as De Gea isn't giving in to the pressure put on him by United to speed up talks.

Juve could bring him in on a free next summer in their latest high-profile free transfer move following the recent signings of the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot and Emre Can.

Having been overlooked in favour of Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga for Spain's 2-1 Euro 2020 qualifier victory over Romania on Thursday, De Gea was back in goal for his country in their 4-0 win against the Faroe Islands in Gijon on Sunday.

Despite having little to do, the stopper was praised by Spain boss Robert Moreno after the game.

"We must all celebrate De Gea's big save, just as we celebrated Kepa's in Romania the other day. It raises competition and is very good," he told reporters after the match .

"We trust David a lot. We always say that players in their careers go through good and bad moments.

"The other day Kepa did very well, and today it was David's turn. This will be the case for the national team - sometimes it will be one and sometimes it will be the other."
