Alan Shearer has named David de Gea in his Premier League team of the week after his brilliant penalty save against West Ham earned Manchester United all three points.
United travelled to the London Stadium and fell behind after a Said Benrahma shot deflected in off Raphael Varane, sending De Gea the wrong way.
They quickly equalised though thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's fourth goal in three games since re-joining the club, before Jesse Lingard came off the bench and smashed a shot into the top corner to complete the comeback late on.
The drama wasn't done there though, as West Ham won an injury-time penalty following a Luke Shaw handball and then substituted on club captain Mark Noble just to take the spot kick.
De Gea had other ideas however and dived to his left to palm the ball away with his right arm and maintain the Reds' lead and earn all three points.
United remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season and extended their unbeaten away record to 29 games with the result and all-time top scorer in the league Shearer deemed that enough to name De Gea in his team of the week.
"Manchester United's goalkeeper produced an excellent save to keep out Mark Noble’s penalty in stoppage-time and earn a big win at [the] London Stadium," he told the official Premier League website, naming De Gea as the only United player in the team.
De Gea has re-established himself as the Reds' number one this season in the absence of Dean Henderson and is likely to be rested against West Ham on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup third-round tie.
